Having a child with cancer is one of the most painful and difficult situations a family can face. Pediatric cancer is the number one cause of death by disease in children in the United States. One in 285 children will be diagnosed with cancer by the time they turn 20. It is estimated that more than 40,000 children are treated for cancer annually nationwide. The average age at diagnosis is six and one in eight children do not survive. Despite these horrible statistics, less than 4% of the National Cancer Institute's budget is dedicated to Childhood Cancer each year.
